This page describes the terms for renting physical equipment (industrial machines, robots, and related hardware) through Elai Marketplace, as an alternative to buying outright. It supplements, and doesn't replace, our Terms of Service.
1. Payment modes
You choose one of two ways to pay for a rental at checkout:
- Full upfront — pay for the entire rental period in one charge, at a 5% discount off the equivalent periodic total.
- Periodic — pay in recurring charges, billed automatically every 30 days (the default period) for as long as the rental continues, charged to the payment method on file.
2. Ownership
Renting equipment does not transfer ownership. The equipment remains the seller's property for the entire rental term and must be returned (or made available for pickup, per the seller's instructions) at the end of the term or upon cancellation, in the condition it was received in beyond normal wear and tear.
3. If a periodic payment fails
If a periodic charge fails, we automatically retry it after 1 day, then 3 days, then 7 days. If all three retries fail, the rental plan is marked defaulted — continued use of equipment under a defaulted plan is a breach of these terms, and the seller may reclaim it.
4. Cancellation
You can cancel an active rental at any time from your account. Cancelling stops future periodic charges; it doesn't retroactively refund periods already paid for. A full-upfront rental follows the same return/refund process as any other purchase for the unused portion, subject to the seller's own return policy for that listing.
5. Damage and loss
You're responsible for the equipment while it's in your possession. Damage beyond normal wear and tear, or failure to return the equipment, may be billed separately by the seller and is not covered by our A-to-Z Guarantee, which covers purchase-protection scenarios (not received, not as described, defective on arrival), not damage caused during a rental period.
